Jean-François Lambert is Founding Partner of Lambert Commodities, providing bespoke commodity trade and structured finance solutions to producers, traders and investors. Capitalizing on his 34-year international experience, he is also an adviser on industry trends, the strategic positioning of clients, as well as regulatory issues. He has been an active member of the Trade Export panel of the WTO.
Prior to that, Jean-François was Managing Director, Global Head of Commodity and Structured Trade Finance for HSBC Group. Under his 6-year stewardship, HSBC became one of the major financial players supporting commodity supply chains. Jean-François was instrumental in expanding HSBC’s geographical presence to over 15 countries with a team of 160+ front-line specialists. He also initiated institutional investor participation in commodity trade financing under a balanced co-investment model. In previous roles with HSBC, Jean-François served as Global Head of Structured Trade Finance, Global Head of Trade and Supply Chain Business Development and Head of Eurozone Trade Services.
Jean-François also held a number of senior positions at Crédit Commercial de France. He headed the short-term international financing activities of the Bank for 6 years and General Manager of the Hong Kong branch.
Jean-François holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Université Paris IX Dauphine.
