Lauren Shields’ work lies at the intersection of business and international development. She is a Manager at BSR, a non-profit business network partnering with companies to create a more just and sustainable world. Lauren Shields is part of the management team for HERproject – BSR’s women’s empowerment workplace program that brings together global brands, their suppliers, and local NGOs to support women workers in global supply chains through interventions on health, finance, and gender equality. As part of her role, Lauren Shields leads HERproject’s programs in East Africa and oversees impact and influence globally.
Previously, Lauren Shields worked at the Social Science Research Council, where she conducted research on migration, development, and human rights. Lauren Shields’ consulting experience includes advising on best practices for monitoring and evaluation for the Center for Socio-Economic Development and developing recommendations on the post-2015 Millennium Development Goals agenda for UNDP. With a focus on inclusive growth, she has led research projects on value chain development and women’s empowerment in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Vietnam.
Lauren Shields holds an M.A. in Public Affairs from Sciences Po and a B.A. in International Relations from Tufts University.
