JAMES SIEYES

Fellow
Finance For Impact

James is currently a Fellow with Finance for Impact. He specialises in green finance and impact investing, looking at how novel financial instruments and technologies can be best harnessed to create social or environmental impact. He is currently undertaking research on the immediate response to the COVID-19 crisis, and to the longer-term economic recovery, considering how the financial system might be better prepared for such economic and societal threats.

Prior to Finance for Impact, James was an intern at the Social Stock Exchange in London, which was the world’s first regulated exchange focused solely on connecting investors with pro-social/environmental business. During his time at university, he was Strategy Partner for a student consultancy, York Community Consulting, where he led projects for various clients ranging from One Planet York, a sustainability network operating across Yorkshire, to EMR4DW, a charity providing electronic medical records across South America and Western Africa.

James is graduating from the University of York with a first-class degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and is aiming to complete a master’s programme in Climate Change and Finance. He speaks both English and French fluently.
