The International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) and the American Society of International Law (ASIL) joined forces to establish the ICCA-ASIL Task Force on Damages to address an issue of particular importance, but too often overlooked, in the field of international arbitration: quantification of damages. The Task Force, under the chairmanship of Catherine Amirfar (Debevoise & Plimpton LLP) and Gabrielle Nater-Bass (Homburger), will bring together legal and financial experts from jurisdictions across the globe to think creatively about how to promote consistency and rigor in the field’s approach to damages. Thierry Senechal from Finance for Impact is part of this panel and will contribute to the forthcoming discussions on issues related to valuation, in particular for the valuation of non-market assets, e.g. environmental and natural resources assets.
